Annual Fall Boat Sale

September 28, 2014

This was a great weekend if you're a paddler and in need of a new (or used) boat or gear. Both Alder Creek Kayak and Canoe and Next Adventure held their annual fall boat sale. I had to choose which sale to attend because I couldn't attend both. Since I had a $50 gift card from Alder Creek for a photo of mine they used in their newsletter, I decided to stop at their Jantzen Beach location on my way to Vancouver, Washington, to visit my daughter and son-in-law.

I was looking for Yakima gunwale supports for my canoe rack and a bent shaft paddle. They didn't have the gunwales supports, but they did have a bent shaft canoe paddle. The paddle cost me $89, but with my gift card and the 15-percent discount for new gear my cost came to only $27. What a great deal. I may have had to drive from McMinnville, Oregon, but the money I saved was worth the drive.

I saw $200 markdowns on many new boats, and used boats were marked down even more. The fall sale is now over, but keep this annual fall sale in mind for next year if you want to pick up a new or used boat or gear at a great price.

I can't speak for the deals Next Adventure was having because I couldn't make it to their sale, but I understand from other paddlers that the deals were just as good at Next Adventure as they were at Alder Creek.
